Picking up where they left off last week, Andrew and Julie continue working their way through the list of books that Andrew has coined his “Best Book of the Year.” To catch up and hear his list from the beginning, be sure to listen to the first episode. Originally the series was slated to be a two-part discussion, but it is hardly surprising that Andrew has a lot of great insights to share about his choices, so the series has been extended. This week’s episode, 284, explores his selections for the years 2007 to 2012. Last week’s episode examined his earlier selections, dating from 2000 to 2006.
These are his choices:
-
2007 - Boys Adrift by Leonard Sax
-
2008 - The Mysteries of Life in Children’s Literature by Dr. Mitchell Kalpakgian
-
2009 - Chance or the Dance? by Thomas Howard
-
2010 - Why Johnny Can’t Write by Myra J. Linden and Arthur Whimbey
-
2011 - The Book of the Dun Cow by Walter Wangerin
-
2012 - Anna Karinina by Leo Tolstoy
Finally making the list are two fiction novels (2011 and 2012). All of the titles are compelling. To learn more about them, be sure to listen to the podcast, Episode 284. Will Andrew and Julie finish up the list next week? That remains to be seen, but whether they do or not, it’s bound to be an engaging listen. See you then!
