Many years ago, when Andrew approached Dr. Webster for his assessment of this question, Dr. Webster responded with this comment: “A bad idea well presented can be more effective than a good idea poorly presented. History proved this.” It’s an especially fitting response from a history professor, and Webster’s response was clarifying for Andrew. Presentation matters. When students write their compositions and essays, Structure and Style is more important than the content. And by teaching Structure and Style, we provide our students a means by which they can present their view, their apologia, of how to improve the world.
