ADHD, ASD, APD, PDD-NOS, SLD. If you know any of these acronyms, you may be the parent of a child who struggles with learning disabilities. Dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia are other common learning disabilities students and their families struggle with. In Podcast 143, Jill Pike and Andrew Pudewa spend an hour chatting about struggling learners and ways parents can help them.

Whether a child struggles with reading, spelling, comprehension, or distractibility, Jill offers encouragement and advice for parents. Reminding listeners that (1) you cannot help your child too much, and (2) a mistake is an opportunity to learn, Jill shares a healthy perspective and the truth that all children can learn. The only thing that matters is that children make progress in relation to themselves.

If you are a parent of a child who struggles, listen to this podcast. It will encourage you and supply strength for the special journey you and your child are taking together. Jill understands the challenges parents of special learners face. A mother of eight children, six of whom had struggles in school, she has much experience and wisdom to offer. It will be okay, mama. Take a deep breath, brew a cup of tea, and sit down and listen. Encouragement awaits.
