Jennifer Kimbrell
As the owner/instructor for Writing to Learn, my mission is to equip students with the necessary thinking and writing tools for effective and engaging communication. IEW is the ideal means to accomplish this mission; it produces reliably competent writers, regardless of the students' learning abilities, experience, or skills. Whether struggling, reluctant, or accomplished writers, all improve through the discipline of the Structure and Style method.
I am an IEW instructor at the Certified Level with twenty-three years of IEW teaching experience. In addition to teaching my own personally designed IEW courses for homeschoolers, I also taught at IEW's 2010 Writing Educators' Symposium at Wake Forest and for Westminster Schools of Augusta's 2011–2013 Summer Program. I have had many students published in IEW's Magnum Opus Magazine, and former students often contact me with reports of their success in their college writing.
I offer live classes both locally in my home and online through Zoom. I teach three levels of IEW writing for grades 7–12, Levels 1, 2, and 3.
I also offer PREP-1 for students grades 6–12. PREP-1 is great for 6th grade students who are not yet eligible for my Level 1 (for 7th grade+) or older students who struggle with language arts and need to strengthen their language foundation before beginning Level 1. PREP-1 students spend the year listening to high quality literature, memorizing poetry, practicing basic key word outlining, and giving oral reports from the key word outlines.
