Are you a classroom teacher, hybrid school instructor, co-op facilitator, or tutor? Do you teach your students in person or online? We have a special event just for you! On Saturday, February 11, IEW is presenting a special retreat for classroom teachers. It will be a day of refreshment, encouragement, and education, and you can attend from the comfort of your own home at no cost!
Beginning at 10:00 AM CT, the event will feature three workshops. Below are the schedule and descriptions of the workshops planned for the day.
10:00 AM‒11:15 AM: Four Deadly Errors of Teaching Writing presented by Andrew Pudewa
After years of teaching, Andrew Pudewa realized that students’ frustrations were often caused by teaching mistakes. Have you committed one of these errors in your teaching? Overcorrecting, holding back help, unclear assignments, and over-expectation can frustrate your students and hamper your best efforts. Join Andrew Pudewa to learn how to overcome and avoid these four deadly errors of teaching writing.
11:30 AM‒12:45 PM: Assessment Made Easy by Andrew Pudewa
You no longer have to approach grading writing assignments with fear and dread. In this session Andrew Pudewa will utilize student compositions to walk you through the process of assessment that produces useful and accurate evaluations.
1:00 PM‒2:15 PM: Round-Table Discussion for Teachers
During the round-table discussion, join the conversation as our panel answers questions submitted during registration or asked during the live conference. Joining host Julie Walker are Sharyn Staggers, Beth O’Connor, Andrea Pewthers, Evan Smith, and Renee Vasher from IEW’s Schools Division.
We look forward to having you join us! In addition to the workshops, you will be able to chat live with each other as well as IEW representatives, who will be standing by to assist you with your questions. When February 11 arrives, grab your favorite hot beverage and most comfortable corner in the house and prepare to be encouraged. We’ll see you soon, hot tea in hand!
