As part of IEW’s continued commitment to providing parents and teachers with help for the journey of training students to be confident and competent communicators and thinkers, we are presenting a series of blog posts highlighting tools we offer to that end. Throughout several installments we have looked at the various newsletters and webinars available from IEW, our social media accounts, our blog, our podcast, Magnum Opus Magazine, our learning differences page, and IEW Online classes. This is the ninth installment of that series: our Schools Department.
Many people associate IEW curriculum with homeschooling. It is true that our origins are the homeschool world. However, what many people do not know is that our Schools Department is growing rapidly. Schools that have used our curriculum find that their students’ writing test scores increase. It also aligns with state standards, which curriculum coordinators must take into account when selecting materials. IEW is not only for homeschooling families; schools benefit from our methodology as well!
In July 2023, Andrew Purdewa and Julie Walker announced on the Arts of Language podcast (Episode 382) our partnership with the Hillsdale College K-12 Education Office to provide writing curriculum for their member schools. The first four books in this series are Adventures in Writing, Discoveries in Writing, Frontiers in Writing, and Investigations in Writing with two more to follow. While the source texts align with the Hillsdale curriculum, anyone can use these books, which are set in the same format as our theme-based books.
One of the main differences for schools wishing to start with IEW curriculum is that we connect them with an Educational Consultant, who will advise and guide them through the selection, ordering, and implementation process. Schools that wish to connect with an Educational Consultant should email, call, or chat with us. To request a free Examination Packet, click here.
Our Schools Department is a major part of our commitment to equip teachers with methods and materials to aid them in training their students. We are grateful for the opportunity to help more and more students to become confident and competent communicators and thinkers. The last post in this IEW Tools series will post in 2025, so stay tuned!
